Women’s rowing

The Women’s Squad at Tyne United has progressed from rapidly over the past three years from a small committed group of scullers to a large and highly competitive sweep and sculling group going into the 2011/2012 season.

For those of you either new to the sport, already rowing but new to the region or just graduated, Tyne United offers you an excellent opportunity to train and compete at a growing and dynamic new club. Our membership is a diverse mix of experience and enthusiasm as well as age range with many members rowing in  Senior and Masters categories.

We cater for all levels: Senior, Novice/Development and Masters – with active groups in all three.

Our facilities are the newest and best in the region, with a clubhouse less than a year old, a fleet of boats less than three years old with weight ranges specific for female athletes; and a recently constructed fitness shed which contains 16 Concept2 Model D ergos, a new Olympics weights set-up and a brand new indoor rowing tank.

Our partnership with Northumbria University means that we now have a Senior Squad that is strong in both size and talent and a fleet of boats to match our ambitions.

For those who aspire to, or already row at a high performance level, Tyne United work in partnership with Durham University Boat Club, the regional GB Rowing High Performance Centre who are based on our site.

As a new and growing club, this is an ideal chance to join somewhere that you can help shape it and make your mark. Our membership rates are highly competitive compared to other clubs regionally and nationally as are our racking fees.
